This class is great because they give and take advice that is very helpful. Since we only have 4 teachers in the gym and a bunch of students it is hard to know if we are doing a exercise properly. For example at first I wasn't really too great at galloping but now I fixed it with the help of Carlo in the beginning of the year. In some fitness exercises I see a lot of familiar activities because of basketball so I know how to do a certain activity correctly. If so I like to give strong criticism to help someone else to the exercise properly. There was many times when I helped different grade 8's with wall sits, squats, plank, and push ups. Many people who haven't seen any of those exercises are not familiar with the proper posture and how to do it. I am usually the first one to volunteer to help set up equipment especially during choice days. I don't really like playing badminton on choice but I always volunteer to help set up the nets if someone doesn't know how to do it properly. Everyone always likes to leave right away because they do not want to help clean up and put away the equipment so I feel bad for everyone who has to clean up and I put away the equipment with or without others. During games no one likes cheaters and it won't benefit you so I don't like it when people don't play by the rules or lie about what they did. This is why I don't cheat myself because it is not like I will win a trophy or medal. I noticed that when you are honest first people will be honest as well. For example if we play basketball and the ball goes out on me and I know it did too I will honestly give the other team the ball and expect they will do the same thing. Our class is usually good with social responsibility which gets me to also be responsible too.
This year I have worked the most on this aspect, healthy living. My goal at the start of the year was to be able to touch the rim of a basketball hoop and I have already achieved my goal. I would not be able to reach my goal if I stayed home and ate junk food. This year I worked really hard outside of school and my basketball practices. I gather friends and we help ourselves become better athletes in all aspects. We ran on the weekends, woke up at 5 in the morning to go to the YMCA during winter and spring break and we shared different youtube and articles to each other regarding health issues and new drills. This got my fitness testing score a tremendous difference from the last one. I went from running a 13 on the beep test to a 14. I think that fitness at school shouldn't be the only exercise we get over the week. This year I have also been eating proper food and cut all the fast food/pop. This help me build up my stamina, have more energy, and help loose weight. The biggest question I had was if weigh protein is good for me. I had this question because a lot of people I know are drinking protein at our age and saying its good for you. I did my research and found out that weigh protein is NOT good for me at my age. I found out that it gives a higher chance of getting kidney stone and will affect my health extremely if I were to drink it everyday. I want to build a strong body so I will live longer in my old age and will still be strong in the future. This is important to me because I don't want to have a shorter life due to a sickness because I ate Mcdonals everyday.
My blog is not as bad in my opinion but I can sure blog with more pictures and videos. I should have a lot more blogs but I think all the blogs I have posted really reflected me and the kind of person I am. Looking back into my blog it really shows my improvement through the year. I posted about all the requirements needed like the dance week post and buddies post. This was my first year blogging through the whole year and it really changed gym for me. Blogs also got me to know my other classmates better and the type of people they are. I love it when people comment on my blog so I comment on theirs as well. In all my blogs I put in time and effort but I feel I could have put more evidence. My blog showed the use of improvement through the year and looking back was much different than now.
Great final Adam. You are thoughtful and honest and I agree that your blog got better at the end. It will help your summer goals to keep in the habit of recording them so you can see exactly what you did and what happened after. You are obviously a really strong athlete but you also showed more and more maturity regarding the needs and successes of others in our class and that is so important. That learning is what you just saw from Andre Iggy in the NBA finals. He put the needs of the group first and found the best personal success of his career (right at the end of a long year too). It is a super tough lesson but our individual success and independence is dependent of the collective effort and group success. You seem to be grabbing onto that already which is awesome. Your biggest goal for PE 10 should be to keep the momentum going around your understanding of ball player needs specifically. Your research around protein shakes is a great example of using your head (and the internet) to make educated choices about your eating. You definitely do NOT need protein shakes. You can get more than enough from chicken, tuna, beans and other whole foods. The shake makes is easier to quick mix but has lots of drawbacks. I am very encouraged but these last few posts in your blog and loo forward to seeing your efforts in September. Good with Rise Up!
