Final Blog Post!

So the year is coming to a end and we are finishing up our blogs. I have worked a lot harder this year than last year and I saw huge improvements. My participation in this class has been outstanding through out the whole year. I was in class almost everyday other than the time I was sick and was injured. In total I believe I only missed 1 class due to being sick but I could not do some of the activity because of a back injury but I contributed by taking picture of my peers to make their blog better. Injured or not I still told my peers what they need to work on and helped them do the best they could do in this class. Every class I showed up in gym strip and was on time. During activities in class for some activities I played at the level that made the game enjoyable for everyone and myself. I really enjoyed the games we played this year and gave them all a shot even if I didn't like it at first. If I still didn't like it I still contributed so it wont make the game boring for my classmates. When we have a group activity I'm not the one to yell at someone for their mistakes I usually just take leadership and organize/help with what we are suppose to do. A big thing I have learned this year was that when you respect someone they will most likely respect you back. This also taught me that when someone else is talking I have to be quiet and listen then say my ideas at the appropriate time. Participation within this class is great because people like myself want to make everyone feel included.

This class is great because they give and take advice that is very helpful. Since we only have 4 teachers in the gym and a bunch of students it is hard to know if we are doing a exercise properly. For example at first I wasn't really too great at galloping but now I fixed it with the help of Carlo in the beginning of the year. In some fitness exercises I see a lot of familiar activities because of basketball so I know how to do a certain activity correctly. If so I like to give strong criticism to help someone else to the exercise properly. There was many times when I helped different grade 8's with wall sits, squats, plank, and push ups. Many people who haven't seen any of those exercises are not familiar with the proper posture and how to do it. I am usually the first one to volunteer to help set up equipment especially during choice days. I don't really like playing badminton on choice but I always volunteer to help set up the nets if someone doesn't know how to do it properly. Everyone always likes to leave right away because they do not want to help clean up and put away the equipment so I feel bad for everyone who has to clean up and I put away the equipment with or without others. During games no one likes cheaters and it won't benefit you so I don't like it when people don't play by the rules or lie about what they did. This is why I don't cheat myself because it is not like I will win a trophy or medal. I noticed that when you are honest first people will be honest as well. For example if we play basketball  and the ball goes out on me and I know it did too I will honestly give the other team the ball and expect they will do the same thing. Our class is usually good with social responsibility which gets me to also be responsible too.

This year I have worked the most on this aspect, healthy living. My goal at the start of the year was to be able to touch the rim of a basketball hoop and I have already achieved my goal. I would not be able to reach my goal if I stayed home and ate junk food. This year I worked really hard outside of school and my basketball practices. I gather friends and we help ourselves become better athletes in all aspects. We ran on the weekends, woke up at 5 in the morning to go to the YMCA during winter and spring break and we shared different youtube and articles to each other regarding health issues and new drills. This got my fitness testing score a tremendous difference from the last one. I went from running a 13 on the beep test to a 14. I think that fitness at school shouldn't be the only exercise we get over the week. This year I have also been eating proper food and cut all the fast food/pop. This help me build up my stamina, have more energy, and help loose weight. The biggest question I had was if weigh protein is good for me. I had this question because a lot of people I know are drinking protein at our age and saying its good for you. I did my research and found out that weigh protein is NOT good for me at my age. I found out that it gives a higher chance of getting kidney stone and will affect my health extremely if I were to drink it everyday. I want to build a strong body so I will live longer in my old age and will still be strong in the future. This is important to me because I don't want to have a shorter life due to a sickness because I ate Mcdonals everyday.

My blog is not as bad in my opinion but I can sure blog with more pictures and videos. I should have a lot more blogs but I think all the blogs I have posted really reflected me and the kind of person I am. Looking back into my blog it really shows my improvement through the year. I posted about all the requirements needed like the dance week post and buddies post. This was my first year blogging through the whole year and it really changed gym for me. Blogs also got me to know my other classmates better and the type of people they are. I love it when people comment on my blog so I comment on theirs as well. In all my blogs I put in time and effort but I feel I could have put more evidence. My blog showed the use of improvement through the year and looking back was much different than now.

In this class I think I deserve an A due to all of my hard work on all these aspects through the year. I will take from what I learned this year to my next class and in real life situations.

Final fitness

We did our final fitness so these were my results
14:beep test
60:vertical test
5:in 30 sec on balance board
2min: plank
Sit and reach is still 0
The rest I wasnt able to finish but im glad I got to these ones cause i wanted to check these ones the most but I still need to work alot on flexibility cause thats the only one that didn't improve.
My past beep test were
So I say I made a fairly large improvment through the year.
My vertical before was 56 during Winter. Balance board was 6 but i think i just got lucky cause i didn't work too much on balance. Plank was 1min 26 sec so i think i made a huge improvement from last time i timed it. I am still working and will improve my score next year.

Basketball outside of school

Outside of school I don't just sit at home all day. On Tuesdays and Thursdays I have basketball practice and tournaments/games on the weekend. My club team is called Rise Up Ball and the team just opened this year and it has a large amount of sulli players on the u15 team. This was the results of our very first tournament and playing together.
https://youtu.be/HlFu4iQ3DSA
I think we did fairly good since it was our first time together. Sadly I was injured this tournament so I couldn't play to my full potential. There are still many games to come and I am still improving as a individual in basketball.

Summer Plan

With the year ending I'm already thinking of the workouts I'm going to do for summer. My goal for the end of summer is to be quicker and more explosive for basketball. I'm going to test my speed by the end of the year by seeing how long it takes me to do a 100m sprint at bear creek from the start of summer and see my time at the end. I want a 7 sec difference from the start of the year to the end. I am going to watch a bunch of youtube videos and read a lot of articles to achieve my new goal. Equipment I am planning to use/buy are a mini parachute, leg weights, weighted vest, skipping rope, and a agility ladder. I'm going to use the equipment in different ways and all of them have great use for. I will use some equipment at the local gym everyday of the summer. My dieting goal for summer is no slurpees, pop, mcdonals/fast food, and high sugar candy. I will also try to become a better shooter and more muscular. This summer I am planning to work hard every single day with 2 other friends and Carlo. I'm looking forward to summer to become a better athlete and help my health.

Parent Mid-Term (mom)

Looking over Adam's blog it really reflects him with his athletics and fitness. He does a good job at home playing basketball outside and running around the neighborhood. He pushes himself to do well in school and athletics. We joined Adam in different basketball programs outside of school. I think blogging is a great idea for kids to reflect about what they do and compare it after. All teachers should have their kids blogging. I am very proud of Adams accomplishments and wish that he told me about blogs from the beginning of the year. Adam motivates me to exercise myself when he goes to the YMCA. After summer I would want him to look back at this and find a new goal. Keep up the great work.

Progress

My goal for the end of the year was to touch the rim of a basketball hoop. I have achevied my goal awhile back but forgot to blog about it. My routine was doing some jump training and then doing leg workouts after. I looked out different work out and plyometric drills to see what I can make a routine out of.
This is my workout routine to do at the ymca at 7 in the morning almost every weekend.
1.Use the foam roller every 2 days
2.skip rope
3.squats
4.lunges
5.different fourms of jumping and balance
6.calf raises
7.balgarian squat

This video is for number 5.

On ocassion I changed it up to do different plyometric workouts and picked the ones that worked the most for me and made my legs super soar the next day. Repeating this got my vertical up to reach my goal.

Quick run

Today I ran the same route i did almost everyday during spring break. I clearly remember writing it but for some reason it got deleted so i will re-upload the the route. My friends and I wake up early in the morning to go for a quick run along 152 st. to Fleetwood Park. It took us roughly 15 min to get there and 35 min to come back. It started with us eating a proper breakfast. I usually ate nuttella, eggs, fruits, and sometimes I made my own smoothie. I noticed that my friend couldnt run as much then I asked him " What did you eat for breakfast?" He tolf me he ate nothing so I told him he has to eat a proper breakfast to run properly. The next day he did the run with no problem. This really showed me how important it is to eat properly. I'm going to remain to run over summer break to build up my stamina and speed for next years basketball season and for my own health.

Buddies

The past couple weeks we have been skipping fitness for buddies. We go to a elementary school to teach younger kids and be a great role modle to them. My buddy is very enthusiastic and has alooooooooot of energy. Overall he is a good listener and knows how to follow instuctions. Having buddies gives me a chance to finally step up and be in control of others. Not just for me but everyone is learning how hard it is to be the leader and maybe they will start to listen during class. The buddies are not just learning from us but we are also learning from them too. Over the past couple weeks we did basic actions like throwing, catching, jumping etc. I'm sure going to miss my buddy with only a couple of classes left.

Fitness Friday

Last class we did a relay race with the other class for fitness. I couldn't participate because I hurt my lower back so I spent the class taking pictures of other people in our class so they can post it on their blogs. I hope everyone enjoyed the pictures because some of them actually turned out to be pretty nice. I really wanted to do this fitness because it didn't just look like they were having a regular fitness. It looked like they were having fun as well and we don't get those fitness days often. It's not just being better than the other people but its about being better then yourself so then when something actually happens when you need to sprint this will come in handy. Hope next fitness we can enjoy outside just like this one.

Dance week

Last week we had some students part of different dance teams come in for the block and teach us how to dance. Since we are stuck on the linear program for band we only got to dance twice. In the first semester we also did dance week and we did it for 3 days so it balances out to a full week either way. I thought dance week was pretty fun even if I wasn't the best dancer I enjoyed learning from my friends and other students. It was difficult to switch between steps quickly but I still tried my hardest to keep up with the speed of the song. Then the next class we had the other class join us for pe which was fun because I got a chance to do bhangra with my friends in the other class. I found bhangra a cool, unique kind of dance that I wouldn't be doing often so it was good to try new things. I'm looking forward to dance week next year.

Japanese buddies

Yesterday Miggy from the other class and I decided to stay after school to put up a couple shots in the small gym. Then the Vice Principal said she has to kick us out or we have to set up a game with the Japanese buddies and play basketball with them. Of course we love the game of basketball and the more people the better so we played a game with them. It turned out to be really, REALLY fun. I never regretted a minute of it. I also made a few new friends that I may never see again after they go back to Japan. These guys really enjoyed playing with us and some of them turned out to be very good because they played alot of basketball in Japan as well. Even if we didn't understand each other that much they were really polite and greeted me. I got a group photo of them but I didn't know if I was allowed to post it so heres a picture of Miggy and I.
:))))

Spring break

With a few more days of spring break left I decided to pull out the books and study for a bit. I went hard this past 2 weeks and I ran everyday. I played lots of basketball and I ran with a group of kids around my neighbourhood. They noticed alot of improvment on their speed and stamnia as well as I did. I'm taking the next couple weeks off because I got a cold and I have no energy to leave the house. I think I did a amazing job this spring break and would like to do it in the summer every single day. We did drills like hill run, plyometrics, sprints, community run, and a few basketball drills. We would all wake up early in the morning around 6-7 and train to make eachother better then we were yesterday.

Workout

Today I ran to the YMCA to go for a workout. Today I did cardio and worked out my legs. I ran for 15 minutes continously at 9.0-10.0 mph. Then i walked on a incline for roughly 3 minutes.
After I ran I worked out my legs specifically my quads, hamstrings, calfs, and glute. I did various exercises as well as vertical training. I got taught a couple of new exercises from the app fitness buddy. It introduces many exercise you may be aware of but modefies it to make it more challenging as well as making your workout routine for you. It is free on the app store but thats not the full version. I worked really hard today.

Fitness

Yeaterday we ran on the pond 1 full lap and then tagged each other in im not very sure what its called but we did it several times this year. I partnered up with people in Mr. Davis class to make new friends and run with the people that ccan run on my level. We ran around the pond 25 times all together in 30 minutes. I would say that is a pretty good job especially since one of our runners had asthma. It was a good fitness because it helped build up my stamina, my sprint, and how to use your energy to last the whole fitness. On the final run I got Earl to time me with his phone and I got 1 minute and 6 seconds.
Im really proud of myself cause thats 4 more seconds faster then my last time and we ran more laps this time than last time. This just shows how much work I put in this year and Im not planning to stop. I will keep working hard till I see a very large improvement and satisfied with myselfs fitness level. My peers in my group also did a really good job of pushing me so I worked my very hardest so thank you to them. Keep working hard.

Mid-term Reflection

In PE class I came prepared every class in my PE strip and ready to work hard on fitness days. I show everyone that I am prepared for any task by listening, paying attention to the person instructing, and I ask questions if I am confused on what's my role of the game or fitness. The days I participate my hardest effort is almost everyday unless I am sick or away during class. I also participate a lot because I am not a shy person and I love to meet new people. I consider myself outgoing because I always love to help out and do what ever I can to teach others the proper way or technique. The days I struggle are the days when my peers don't help out by cleaning up or setting up and even not listening on what their suppose to do because it really bothers me and slows me down when I start off class with a positive attitude. One fitness I really struggled with was when we did that yoga routine. It was very difficult for me because I am not very flexible and wasn't able to do some of the positions they did on the video. Although it didn't matter because I modified it by the help of Mr. Stroh to keep it at a level I can reach and it would still help my improvement.

I contribute to the outcome of the class by helping out others in my class so they can do their best as well. I like to cheer on others even if they are on the opposing team but only if I can tell that they are working their hardest to improve on how they were before class started. In my opinion I bring a great attitude to class and not letting my personal problems reflect on the class so they would start and finish the block with a smile. I interact with my students by talking to them and becoming friends and help them out when they are struggling during class because some sports we do I can score many points all by myself and make everyone feel that they aren't doing good and want to give up. Instead I decide not to be a ball hog and play at other peoples level as they would for me if we were doing something I totally suck at they would help me as well. This class understand that people play at different levels that's why I love being in this class.

On all the finesses I was able to always push myself to the hardest and improve every day. Not just for my overall grade but also to help myself be more physically fit and live longer. Also I joined our schools junior basketball team so I also need to get stronger and faster to compete with the other people that have great skill. The fitness activity I love most is the loco loco motion and the hill run because it leaves me with sore legs for a full 3 days. I know for the days that I am sore that my vertical is increasing as well so I can jump higher then i was able to. I also really like the yoga session we had because it was really difficult so I know what I need to work on. The main fitness goals I have is to improve my score for every testing by at least a quarter of what I got in the beginning.

Leadership means to me that someone is stepping up and taking control of what's happening. Being a leader isn't just something you want to be its something you need to gain the confidence to have. That's why I really like to listen because I know how hard it is to be up there on that spot. I think the leaders in our class is the person stepping up in front and explaining what going on. For example in choice we need someone to take charge and make teams so we could start our activity. I think our best leaders in our class is Simran, Yulia, Jessica, and Nimrit because they always take charge and help the class out.

The main thing I want to improve on is getting my vertical up so I can jump higher. I want to be able to touch the rim by the end of the year so I will be dunking by the end of grade 10 if I work hard enough in the summer. Overall I would like to improve on everything and being able to work hard to achieve my goals. I am very proud of myself this year I am working two times harder then last year and I am not planning to slow down my progress. This year I am proud that I lost 2 pounds from the start of the year. Not just because I got thinner but I am also getting more muscular as well. I think I am doing a great job so far.

I think for my mid-term report card I deserve an A because I am a hard working and a motivating person. My blog could use some work such as providing youtube videos to some post but I have been making good progress with my blogs.

Guru pyramid

On wednesday we did the Guru Pyramid workout for fitniss because we had no school on Friday. It was my first time doing this workout for fitniss because I think our class did it while i was at LA. These were the type of workouts we did.
Every time we did the exercise on the board wehad to run to the middle and do the next one and keep going down and when you do the same ones again you satrt at 9. So you keep going down once you are at 0 then your finished the guru pyramid.

January 20 wednesday

Today I had a basketball game against Earl Marriot at home. We won the game by 13 points. I really enjoy playing basketball for our school and we are doing pretty good. We won some lost some but were really bonding as a team and building lots of team chemistry. I enocurage other people to join school sports as well because its really fun and you don't know what your missing out. I also play to get fit and not just to have fun but to help my body become stronger. It really helped out.

Pe jan 7

Today we played pickleball in class. I enjoyed this game because it helped my accuracy improve and also made my left handeye cordantation improve because i played with my left hand most of the time. I made a new friend named Raheel who is in grade 12 now and we were partners for todays activity. I enjoyed playing with Raheel because he was very enthusiastic and great at serving the ball. I don't regret going with my friend I think i made the right choice by making a new friend. Although it was our only first time playing together and meeting eachother I think we both and very much fun.

Winter break post

I didn't really post anything so far during winter break. I wasn't so lazy over the break tho I tried to stay in shape. I ran around the block, went to the gym, and ate healthy food to help me stay in shape. I also have been playing alot of basketball over the break I trained by myself and with others and i also had practice today and 2 other times befor new years. I am glad of the work I did over winter break and ready to work hard during pe days.
